Beam Guard is a workshop aid device that clamps onto band saws in order to aid novice users in school-like workshop environments by providing the skills and support of an expert. Using live image tracing and smart material recognition, Beam Guard projects guiding lines to improve the user's ability to complete complex cuts on the band saw. Beam Guard aims to shift the perspective of safety from rules and obligations to a beneficial and integral part of craft.
